Histopathology / Cytopathology
Having trained in pathology at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow, Dr Sumithran has been the Director of Anatomical Pathology at Gribbles since 1997. He has held senior consultant and academic posts in pathology in Malaysia and Australia. From 1980 to 1985, he worked as a Senior Staff Specialist to the Victorian Cytology Service and Prince Henry's Hospital in Melbourne. In 1985, Dr. Sumithran was appointed Director of Laboratory Medicine at the Queen Victoria Medical Centre, Melbourne. He became Chairman of Laboratory Services at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Victoria, in 1987 and in 1996, took up the appointment of Clinical Director of Pathology at Southern Health, Clayton. Dr Sumithran has wide experience in general surgical pathology, with a special interest in gynaecological and breast pathology and in cytopathology.
