After graduating with first class honours in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Dr Handley completed his undergraduate medical training at University College Hospital, London. Following a houseman year he worked as a surgical resident in Canada and as a flying doctor in Alice Springs. His physician and pathology training were completed in Adelaide and Perth. He was appointed Deputy Director of the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (RCBTS) – WA and held consultant appointments at Royal Perth and Fremantle Hospitals. Dr Handley joined Gribbles Pathology for its start up operations in Malaysia before his transfer to Melbourne.
