About Healthscope
Healthscope is one of the largest private healthcare providers in Australia being the only provider with a footprint in each state and opportunities in New Zealand and Asia. We offer our Graduate Nurses not only an opportunity to complete their first year of nursing in a supportive environment but the ability to create a career without boundaries.
Our Graduate Nurse Program
The Graduate nurse program provides a 52 weeks program that enables the graduate to make the transition from a newly registered nurse to established practitioner. The program has the flexibility to allow the graduate to work either full time or part time. Each Hospital has a Clinical Educator to facilitate the Graduate Nurse Program
The program offers a number of structured study days, which enables the graduate nurses from across Healthscope to come together and enhance their own in professional development.
Each hospital offers tutorials and debriefing sessions to encourage the graduate to discuss any clinical issue they may be experiencing. All graduates nurses are allocated a preceptor to help the graduate make the transition into the healthcare environment.
Clinical Support
Our preceptors provide our graduate nurses with the tools, knowledge and the best possible support so the graduate can reach their potential. Being able to offer the graduate 3 to 4 rotations throughout the year in speciality area’s including those at other hospitals opens up opportunities of professional development and helps the graduate to identify an area of interest for future career development.
Career Development
Upon successfully completing their graduate year we encourage our graduate nurses to pursue their goals for future career development. Healthscope provides endorsed bridging courses that are affiliated with Universities, Postgraduate courses including Critical Care, Accident Emergency, Perioperative, Midwifery and Psychiatric Nursing. The provision of speciality education within Healthscope is paramount to their success. Fully and partially funded scholarships are provided in a number of speciality areas.
Healthscope is also able to offer short courses that are affiliated with the Royal College of Nursing. We encourage all our nursing staff to continue with their professional development by providing the above opportunities and an extensive internal education program, which is distributed in a National Training Calender Quarterly.
Ongoing Opportunities
Opportunities are endless at Healthscope hospitals with the ability to combine work and travel through its Australia wide network of hospitals. In addition Healthscope offer flexible working arrangements as the need to balance work and family commitments is recognised at all Healthscope Hospitals.
